President Trump Signs Executive Orders Modernizing Military Defense – Reforming Foreign Defense Sales,
And Restoring American Maritime Dominance

(Gateway Pundit) — On Wednesday, April 9, President Trump signed three major executive orders to modernize the United States Military defense infrastructure and restore American maritime dominance.

While issuing these executive orders from the Oval Office on Wednesday, President Trump first signed the executive order titled, “Restoring America’s Maritime Dominance.”

Upon delivering this executive order to President Trump, White House Staff Secretary Will Scharf informed President Trump,

“As you have consistently identified, restoring our maritime dominance as a nation is very important – from shipbuilding to having a merchant marine capable of supporting military efforts up and down the line – restoring maritime dominance has been a priority of this administration.

“This executive order, which was prepared primarily by your National Security Council staff, has a number of very significant policy steps, all aimed at restoring American maritime dominance, and ensuring that we have the shipbuilding capacity to compete, both militarily, and in the civilian space,” Scharf said.

White House Eliminates Daily Press Pool Slot
Reserved For Wire Services Amid Clash With AP

(Just the News) — The White House is reportedly eliminating a press pool slot that was specifically reserved for wire services, instead of complying with a court order that instructs the administration to restore the Associated Press' (AP) access to certain areas.

The change comes after a judge ordered the White House to lift its ban on AP reporters' access to the Oval Office, Air Force One and Mar-a-Lago amid a feud over the outlet's style guide. The ban was first enacted in February.

A White House official confirmed the shake-up of the White House daily press rotation to The Hill, stating it will now consist of four photojournalists, two print journalists from different publications, a crew from one major television network, a crew from a secondary news network or streaming service, one radio journalist and one “new media” or independent journalist.

Reporters from wire services will be eligible to join the daily press pool as a print journalist, but are no longer guaranteed a spot. Reuters and Bloomberg are also wire services. The shake-up also comes as the White House seeks more control over its daily press corps, which was typically assigned by the White House Correspondents’ Association. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt now makes the decisions.

Closed Door Helped Save Gov. Shapiro And His Family
In Arson Attack On Their Home That
Caused Millions In Damage

(NY Post) — A closed door in a stairwell of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s mansion may have saved him and his family after a perp allegedly broke in while they were sleeping and set the place on fire, officials said.

Cody Balmer, 38, is accused of using homemade Molotov cocktails to set Shapiro’s official residence alight early Sunday in the state capital of Harrisburg – torching an entire room and causing millions of dollars in damage.

Harrisburg Fire Chief Brian Enterline said that if the door in question had been left open, there’s no telling what might have unfolded.

If the door in question had been left open, Enterline said, “it would have definitely put the governor at even greater risk.”

Powerful House Leadership Chair, Stefanik Poised
To Take On Hochul For NY Governor

(Fox News) — Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., is considering a 2026 bid for governor in her home state, multiple sources close to her confirmed to Fox News Digital.

Stefanik was withdrawn from consideration as President Donald Trump’s United Nations Ambassador to shore up numbers of the House Republicans' narrow majority. She is now the chairwoman of House Republican Leadership.

Sources tell Fox News Digital that she is being encouraged to run by allies of Trump and longtime friends. Stefanik outperformed the president in her congressional district in 2016, 2020 and 2024, which one source says could be an indicator that she could do well with New York's swing voters. The Republican won with 62% of the vote in her strongly conservative district in November.

Tech Company Reverses Policy After Christian Group
Sues For Religious Discrimination

(Fox News) — A San Francisco-based software company agreed to change its policy after a Christian ministry brought a lawsuit accusing the tech company of religious discrimination.

Holy Sexuality, a Christian nonprofit that provides families with video lessons on a biblical view of sex and gender, filed a federal lawsuit in February against software company Asana. The complaint alleges that Asana refused to give Holy Sexuality its 50% nonprofit discount on subscriptions to its project management software that it gives to other nonprofits.

According to the lawsuit, Asana had a policy barring religious nonprofits "that exist to solely propagate a belief in a specific faith" from this financial discount.

Faith-based conservative legal group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) argued that Asana’s denial and its broader policy were illegal under California’s Civil Rights Act.

Leavitt Holds Powerful White House Press Briefing,
Leaves The Media Stunned

(PJ Media) — There are some things that just leave you speechless, and what happened in the White House Press Room today is one of them. And it didn't just leave me speechless – it left the reporter pool stunned, too.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that she'd be holding an impromptu press briefing with a special guest on Wednesday afternoon, and if you missed it, it was a doozy.

The topic was Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Well, sort of. Leavitt started by pointing out that Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen was currently in El Salvador, pleading with the country's government to release one of its own citizens – a member of the foreign terrorist organization MS-13 with a history of violence who was in the United States illegally – so he can smuggle him back into the United States so we can probably deport him again.

New Prostate Surgery Preserves Erectile Function

(NewsMax Health) — A pioneering technique can help nearly twice as many men preserve erectile function following prostate cancer surgery, researchers say.

The new surgical method, called NeuroSAFE, preserves the nerves that run through the prostate’s outer layers, which are thought to be responsible for producing erections, according to a report published March 24 in The Lancet Oncology.

The technique also includes an additional test to make sure all cancer is removed. This helps ensure that preserving the nerves does not risk the surgery’s success, researchers said.

“Our results show that, by using NeuroSAFE, nearly twice as many men don’t have to face potentially life-changing loss of erectile function after prostate surgery,” researcher Greg Shaw, a consultant urologist at the University College London Hospital in the U.K., said in a news release.

Unmanned Shrimp Boat Washes Ashore On
Florida Beach, Puzzling Investigators

(Fox News) — Florida beachgoers received an unlikely visitor after an unmanned vessel washed ashore last weekend.

A 50-foot shrimp boat named "Miss Montie" ran aground on Beverly Beach, located approximately three miles north of Flagler Beach on Florida’s east coast, on Sunday evening, according to the Flagler Beach Fire Department.

Authorities responding to the scene of the beached vessel were initially unable to make contact with the crew, the department said in a social media post.

Upon contacting the U.S. Coast Guard, officials learned the crew was, in fact, accounted for and had been removed from the boat prior to Sunday, Coast Guard Marine Science Technician Brandan Blackwell, who responded to the scene, told the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
