Virginia Voters Sue To Boot Dem Off Ballot, And It Could Have ‘Far-Reaching Implications’ On Election Day (Amer Wire News) — Three Virginia voters have asked a judge to remove a state House Democrat nominee because she doesn’t live in the district where she’s registered to vote. According to a court petition filed by three Stafford County voters, Virginia state House candidate Stacey Carroll lives in House District 23 but used an address in House District 64 to qualify for the race. “[P]etitioners Stephen Edward Schwartz, Judith Anne Parker and Juliet McGee Schweiter allege Carroll changed her voter registration on Feb. 5, 2025, to an address on Pinkerton Court in District 64 but ‘continues to reside’ on Bismark Drive in District 23,” the Virginia Mercury reports. “The filing lists the Bismark Drive house as a property Carroll has owned and occupied since 2018. It asks the court to hear the case on an expedited basis, cancel Carroll’s District 64 registration and direct state officials to decertify her candidacy and remove her from the ballot,” the reporting continues. The filing also alleges that the District 64 home isn’t even owned by Carroll but by Jared Harmon and Crystal Harmon, both of whom still live there. See full story |

U.S. To Provide Ukraine With Intelligence For Missile Strikes Deep Inside Russia (WSJ) — The U.S. will provide Ukraine with intelligence for long-range missile strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure, American officials said, as the Trump administration weighs sending Kyiv powerful weapons that could put in range more targets within Russia. President Trump recently signed off on allowing intelligence agencies and the Pentagon to aid Kyiv with the strikes. U.S. officials are asking North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies to provide similar support, these people said. The expanded intelligence-sharing with Kyiv is the latest sign that Trump is deepening support for Ukraine as his efforts to advance peace talks have stalled. It is the first time, officials say, that the Trump administration will aid Ukrainian strikes with long-range missiles against energy targets deep inside Russian territory. While the U.S. has long assisted Kyiv’s drone and missile attacks, the intelligence sharing means Ukraine will be better able to hit refineries, pipelines, power stations and other infrastructure far from its borders, with the goal of depriving the Kremlin of revenue and oil to sustain its invasion. Bari Weiss To Lead CBS News As Part Of Major Paramount Skydance Shakeup (NY Post) — Paramount Skydance is poised to name Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News in the coming days – giving the hard-charging journalist unusual clout to revamp the struggling network as it also acquires her scrappy news site the Free Press, The Post has learned. Weiss – a 41-year-old former New York Times opinion writer who has built the Free Press into a buzzworthy site with a contrarian bent – is expected to be named to the top post in a Monday announcement, although the talks are in flux and the timing could change, a source close to the situation said. In a remarkable reshuffle of CBS News’ decades-old management structure, Weiss will report directly to Paramount Skydance chief executive David Ellison as she helps set the editorial direction at the Tiffany Network’s third-place news division, a source close to the situation said. Weiss’ direct line to Ellison means she will not report to CBS News president Tom Cibrowski, who currently reports to George Cheeks, chair of TV media at Paramount Skydance. No further details could be immediately learned about how Weiss would work with Cibrowski. See full story |

Trump Admin Halts $18B In Funding For NYC Projects Over DEI (Newsweek) — The Trump administration is withholding some $18 billion from major infrastructure projects in New York City, citing concerns over diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought said the funds "have been put on hold to ensure funding is not flowing based on unconstitutional DEI principles" in a Wednesday morning post on X. Newsweek reached out to New York Governor Kathy Hochul's office for comment via email on Wednesday morning. Linking infrastructure project funding with concerns over DEI initiatives comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in January ordering the elimination of federal activity related to DEI. That has led to several moves by the federal government to withhold funds, or attempt to withhold money, from local jurisdictions that have continued such programs. See full story |

"I play Club Keno every now and then, but I only play The Jack when it gets over $100,000," the player said. "I bought a ticket for 30 draws, and when I got home, I decided that if the draws were still going, I would go somewhere to have a drink and watch the rest." The player said he was initially upset when he used his phone to check the status of the drawings. "I got on the lottery app to see what draw it was on and was bummed when I saw someone had won The Jack. I scanned my ticket to check it and was stunned when I found out I was the big winner!
